The ����ר��’s College of Osteopathic Medicine is training the next generation of primary and geriatric care providers, according to a February 20, 2016 article in the Bangor Daily News. 

The article, “Who will care for aging Mainers?” highlighted the need for geriatric care for Maine’s aging population. ����ר�� is working to meet that need by preparing students for careers in primary care and geriatrics. According to the article, 60 percent of ����ר�� COM graduates go on to primary care and students studying all health professions are exposed to geriatrics. “We ensure a great deal of exposure to geriatrics in the classroom and through clinical experiences,” said Kathyrn Brandt, D.O. '97, MMEL '11, professor, chair of primary care and interim chair of geriatrics. “Especially in rural areas, where we practice across the age spectrum, it is really important that any doctor know these things.”
